Our Story

"Blessed to be a Blessing!"

St. Peter's has been serving the Elk Grove Community with the Good News of Jesus for over 100 years! It began with a group of German Lutherans from Russia that settled in the Elk Grove area and started a church since there were no Lutheran churches in area. St. Peter's was officially incorporated on May 17, 1923.
After nearly 50 years in the heart of Elk Grove, the growing church moved to its current location at 8701 Elk Grove-Florin Road in 1987. In 1993 the mission of the church was expanded to include St. Peter's Lutheran School, a pre-school through 8th grade day school that serves the Elk Grove Community with the mission of "Christian Nurture, Mission Outreach, and Quality Academic and Religious Education."
Through the church and school, St. Peter's has continued a legacy of faith, planting three new churches, sending full-time and short-term missionaries around the world, and raising up pastors and church workers to continue to spread the Gospel of Jesus throughout this world.
For over 100 years, St. Peter's Lutheran Church has been "Blessed to be a Blessing!"
